SAL: magical kingdoms
Posted by Sal Taylor Kydd on 3/16/2009

Etsy continues to be a source of delight. I found these prints by Hidenseek whilst searching for some art for my kids’ rooms. Her work is both haunting, magical and sometimes a touch disturbing.  For those of you who enjoy reliving the fantasy and magic of your own childhood through your children’s books and fairy tales, this will be a wonderful discovery.

INSIDE: sups up
Posted by Sal Taylor Kydd on 3/03/2009

Seriously love the decals. Here’s another option worth pondering for a small dining space. Thanks to Laura for this. Not sure it’s too formal - but round will work well for a small space and it’s pretty reasonable at $1499 from Crate & Barrel… One thing is for certain I’m not making any decisions today. Maybe it’s the moon, but I just almost burnt my onions for a second time. Inner Zen where are you??

INSIDE: rugged up
Posted by Sal Taylor Kydd on 12/07/2008

Well I am in Maine right now so you’ll have to forgive the weather metaphors. With all this snow and cold weather and such, my mind is drawn to the cosy and the warm, the inviting and the comforting. Which is why this lovely rug from Domestic Modern caught my attention. I keep racking my brains to think if I can make this work in my new place, jury’s out, but I still had to share. :)

READ: the wonderful world of oliver jeffers
Posted by Sal Taylor Kydd on 11/20/2008

I’ve been spending some time recently, what with the holidays and all coming up, looking for some cool gift ideas. Given that times are tough, I am determined not to go overboard this year. So books have got higher on my list as I look for goodies for the kids. What glee when I discovered the wonderful world of Oliver Jeffers! The illustrations are a treat - right up there with my other favorite illustrator Elena Odriozola of The Opposite fame. Children’s books could become a serious addiction for me. Jeffer’s water colors are also available as prints for you to decorate your wee one’s rooms. Divine.

What children’s books illustrators do you enjoy?

WEAR: get political
Posted by Sal Taylor Kydd on 10/28/2008

Tis the season for political action, so I thought I’d share with you these very funky tees from the folks over at Democratees.com There are a bunch of different styles to suit every activist’s taste, with titles varying from “Petrolcide” to “This Machine Kills Fascists” - depicting a picture of a guitar. Nice one. I chose the more innocuous Treehugger pictured above.
