Speaking of British cool, oh how I wish modern homewares store Habitat in the UK would come stateside. Possibly now is not the time what with the ailing economies on both sides of the pond. However we are heading back to Blighty in May so perhaps I’ll get a chnace to poke my head in… If you’re not going to the UK anytime soon, just check out the site for some inspiration!

Just came across Graham and Green. Great UK store packed to the brim with lovely pieces. I think this table would be great for Sal - oval - a compromise between round and rectangular. And I like it with that big barrel light fitting suspended above. Lots of good inspiration here.

I’ve been on the hunt for round tables for Sal. Check these out at Domino’s site…a whole photo gallery devoted to the round dining table. I love the Poulsen light in this shot (maybe that’s the way to go with the pendant? Although at almost $8000 it is probably a little expensive!) It is so sad that the March issue of Dominois their last. Such a nice mag. I hope the web archive stays live.

I am waiting for Lucinda’s new bed to arrive. One of those annoying times where you’re stuck in the house for a three hour window not knowing exactly when the delivery guys will get here. But I am getting a lot done! The bed came from The Land of Nod. It’s a white Jenny Lind. So sweet and hopefully well-made. I’ve got the Dwell bedding from Target for the cover (not the stuff pictured. I find those head pillows a little creepy!) I can’t find the Dwell bedding online. It’s covered in dots in three shades and a great chocolate brown.

Much as we have enjoyed the Oeuf Toddler Bed that converted from my son’s bed some six months ago, it quickly outlived its usefulness. Now it is true my boy is big for his age, the cheeky three and a half year old could easily pass for 5 on a good day. However, there are a few reasons I’d counsel most parents against the toddler bed and advise heading straight for the twin - admittedly with guards on the side.
My main issue with the toddler bed, aside from the short life-span - is that it is, by definition, very small. Which means cuddling up for a bedtime story, or snuggling in when they are sick, is just not possible, not unless you want to indulge in some serious bedtime yoga. This means of course they invariably end up in Mom & Dad’s bed - and that’s no good for anyone! Well, except perhaps for Mom, but that’s beside the point.
So I know I’m not completely adhering to my end of the bargain to bring you items on the affordable range. But well. I’m a big fan of this lovely, clean bed - AND it comes with a trundle. So I had to share. Forgive me!
