HARRY: It’s dinner time and I’ve got two hungry grumpy kids so this is a real quick one. Couldn’t resist these recycled melamine plates. How cool are they! I love the segmented dinner plates and the simple little tumblers. Perfect for picnics, bbqs or the kids.

HARRY: After reading about Sal’s bird feeder I went in search of my own. I found this cool one by Eva Solo on the Fitzsu site. Lots of cool stuff on their site (including tse & tse china). I met the couple behind Fitzsu - Fitz and Su - at a friend’s birthday a few nights ago. They recently opened a store in Palm Springs. So nice to meet the people behind one of my favourite Los Angeles design stores. But, back to the bird feeder. I’ve blogged about Eva Solo before (remember that portable bbq?) … such elegant solutions to otherwise mundane objects and this lovely glass design is no exception. Also check out the Droog bird feeder - a porcelain dinner plate with a wooden roof. Love it.

HARRY: Philippe Starck has come up with a range of plastic dinnerware. The clever platter has a spike that holds glasses and bowls in place. Sleek and durable they come in gold or silver. I love the idea of packing a summer picnic and using these stylish utensils. Thank you Daily Olive for that great find.

OUTSIDE: the ultimate bbq?
Posted by Cerentha Harris on 5/24/2007

HARRY I love the work of Eva solo. Danish designers Henrik Holbaek and Claus Jensen produce such clever, streamlined products. The flower pot that waters itself, the fantastic white ceramic bird feeder. And I’ve just come across their bbq. Like all good Australians I have a mild obsession with grilling outdoors. Eva solo has a new line of bbq tools (which are fab) but it’s this porcelain table top grill that really got me. It’s portable so you can take it to the park or the beach (sandy sausages aren’t my thing so I’d stick to the park) or just tote it to the backyard or balcony. Love it.
PS: They’ve also done a gas’s a bit more expensive!
