We’re Back!
Posted by Sal Taylor Kydd on 10/28/2008

Hello faithful readers!

I have a big apology. A string of technical glitches and challenges from our dear old friends at Blogger forced Harry and Sal to go on hiatus over the summer. I couldn’t post, I couldn’t do anything until I moved the entire thing over to Wordpress. Whilst we were at it I figured a redesign was way overdue so I hope you enjoy our new look.

So stay tuned for more Harry and Sal discoveries coming your way - only this time - what with the economy and all - we’ll try and limit ourselves to the more affordable end of the market and see how crafty we can get on the home front too. Although I cannot promise that my lust for all things divine will not stray into avaricious territory every so often. We aren’t all perfect!

cheers! Sal

Argington Ayres Twin Bed

Much as we have enjoyed the Oeuf Toddler Bed that converted from my son’s bed some six months ago, it quickly outlived its usefulness. Now it is true my boy is big for his age, the cheeky three and a half year old could easily pass for 5 on a good day. However, there are a few reasons I’d counsel most parents against the toddler bed and advise heading straight for the twin - admittedly with guards on the side.

My main issue with the toddler bed, aside from the short life-span - is that it is, by definition, very small. Which means cuddling up for a bedtime story, or snuggling in when they are sick, is just not possible, not unless you want to indulge in some serious bedtime yoga. This means of course they invariably end up in Mom & Dad’s bed - and that’s no good for anyone! Well, except perhaps for Mom, but that’s beside the point.

So I know I’m not completely adhering to my end of the bargain to bring you items on the affordable range. But well. I’m a big fan of this lovely, clean bed - AND it comes with a trundle. So I had to share. Forgive me!

INSIDE: drink and feel good

There are things that you buy because they are cool, because you need them, or simply because they catch your eye. And sometimes you have an opportunity to combine all of those things with the opportunity to give something back. Buy one of these funky milk bottles from the ever delightful Three Potato Four and they will donate a dollar to Action Against Hunger. What’s stopping you?

SAL: It’s not often I get to quote Valleywag in the context of Harry and Sal. The tech gossip rag generally has little to say on interior design let’s face it. But I had to share with you this great piece about the coolest offices in Silicon Valley. Typing away from my modest digs here at Intent.com, I can but drool over these gorgeous spaces! Enjoy.

OUTSIDE: obsession
Posted by Sal Taylor Kydd on 5/05/2008

Now I know most people don’t share my somewhat long and tawdry obsession with the beloved bird box, but there’s something about it - a wee home on a wall - a nest. It’s so cosy and inviting and you’re doing something positive for your garden, as opposed to spraying pesticides everywhere or irritating the neighbors with noisy lawnmowers. But why the sad story? Well I have a trail of sad bird boxes littering my home, neglected, just waiting for some wee inhabitants to make them feel loved. One, rustic-looking, sits unused on my lawn, forlorn, just waiting for lazy old me to go hang it somewhere. The other, shabby-chicesque (we all go through that phase at one time or another) sits in the side yard gathering dust. So maybe this gem from my latest favorite site Generate could be the go. Clean lines, sweet motif. Nice. I think I really have to get the other ones up tho before I can splurge again. What say you?
